Simon Koski, 88, of Weirton, WV died Friday, October 18, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Weirton, WV, the son of the late William and Sanna Koski. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tarmo Koski, and his sister, Ina Kamppi. Simon retired from the Strip Steel department of Weirton Steel after more than 40 years of service. He served his country in the South Pacific during World War II, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Simon was a member of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, VFW 2716 and the American Legion Post 10. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Peggy) Hovista Koski of Weirton;his sisters, Lillian Bass and Mrs. Thomas (Mariam) Miholov both of Fort Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews, which include, Hank and Dorothy Hornak, Janet and Bill Kamppi, John and Charlotte Kamppi, Robert Kamppi all of Weirton, Dr. John and Mary Holovak of McMurray, PA, Tillie Ann and Lewis King of Industry, PA, and Helen Marie Holovak of Mantua, OH. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Sunday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home. The Very Rev. Fr. Theodore Shomsky will preside. Interment will follow at the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery in Weirton, WV, with military services conducted by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, VFW 2716 Firing Squad, and the Tri State Marine Corp. Parastas services will be held 8:30 PM Monday in the funeral home.
