Sophia Olenick, 77 of Weirton died Monday January 7, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center Emergency Room.
She was born on February 1, 1924 in Weirton, WV, the daughter of the late Steve and Anna Watchek Redish.
Sophia was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Olenick; her brother, Steve and her sister, Mary Kuzma.
Sophia enjoyed her church, family and playing bingo. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving include her three sons, Gary and his wife Patty of Mineral Ridge, OH; Greg and his wife Margo of Follansbee, WV and Randy and his wife Michelle of Weirton, WV; her brothers George and Chas Redish both of Weirton and Michael of Fort Lauderdale, FL; her sisters, Ann Criss of Columbus, OH and Kate Mohnacky of Weirton, WV; her ten grandchildren, Renee Vitullo, Denise Mazzupapa, Christine Campbell, Cassandra Toney, Gary, Jr., Cory, Marla, Cana, Victor, Harry Olenick; her ten great grandchildren, Gage Campbell, Austin Garrettson, Tyler and Shane Vitullo, Alea, Jenna and Dylan Mazzopapa, Kendra, Devon, Maranda Olenick.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Parastas service will be 8 PM Thursday in the funeral Home.
Blessing Service will be held 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be 10: AM Friday at the Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church.
Rev Fr. Ed Lucas will officiate.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery.
