Stanley 'Stanko' Sarap, 72, of Cabins, WV, formerly of Weirton, WV died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at his home. Born June 10, 1932 in Weirton, he was the son of the late Steve and Dorothy (Mummich) Sarap. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, infant Dragan Sarap, Dan Sarap, Bob Sarap, Brownie Sarap, and Mitchell Sarap; and three sisters, infant Sophie Sarap, Mary Staffalino, and Mildred Dionis. He was the last member of his immediate family. Mr. Sarap retired from Weirton Steel Company in 1983. He and his wife Donna moved to Cabins, WV in 1983. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and life member of Evert Maki American Legion Post 10, Weirton, and American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg, WV, making a total of 51 years in the American Legion. He was a Grand Chef de Gare Passe 40/8 Voiture 1535 National Chemiot. He was American Legion Historian for the Department of WV and was American Legion Baseball Commissioner. He was a member of the VFW Post 3526, New Cumberland, WV and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Donna (LeMaster) Sarap; two daughters, Debra Hendershot and her husband Charles of Colliers, WV, and Linda Sarap of Steubenville, OH; one step-daughter, Dianna Campbell of Weirton; one step-son, Kenneth Campbell of Cabins, WV; two grandchildren, Shawn Sarap of Colliers, WV and Jason Little of Weirton; two step-grandchildren, Cristina Agrafas and Kyle Gallagher, both of St. Petersburg, FL; two great grandchildren, Gino Little of Weirton, and Sophia Agrafas of St. Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 7-9 PM Saturday and 1-3 and 7-9 PM Sunday at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where a Pomen Service will be held 7 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Rade Merick presiding. Burial will be at Serbian Cemetery, Weirton, where graveside Military Services will be conducted by the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard and V.F.W. Firing Squad.   4. Dear Donna, I was e-mailed by Dede Friday evening and since then you have been on my mind and in my thoughts and prayers. I called and spoke with my Dad (Ken Loy) and he said he had got a call from Paulettee Anderson and was aware of your husbands passing but due to his health did not feel that he would make the service. I asked he if he would like me to send you a short note by e-mail he said Please do. You have my e-mail and if I can do anything please feel free to ask I am living just about 25 miles below wv now. My new phone number if you need to talk is 276-988-4851. I know since my sister passing a short 6 months ago it is very hard to loss someone so close but you do need to remember you have so many friends and relatives that want you to lean on them and believe if you need to Donna please do so!!That’s what they offer for and they truely want to help you get thru this and support you and your family as much as possible..
