Stella (Zajac) Badal, 92, of Mt. Vernon, OH, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. Born December 4, 1917 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late John and Veronica Drag Zajac. She was also preceded in death by her husband Steven J. Badal and brothers Emil and Julius Zajac. Mrs. Badal was a homemaker, a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Women of the Moose Auxilary, Women's Veteran Association all in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Badal volunteered at the local Mt. Vernon hospice. She served in the Women's Army Corp during World War II. Stella is survived by her sister Laura Schrockman, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and Godchildren John Zajac and Deborah DeCaria. There will be no visitation. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11am Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, Mt. Vernon, OH at the convenience of her family. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Weirton Geriatric Center Alzheimer Unit and Second Floor staff for all of their loving care and support.   2. I am with the Columbus Chapter of the Women’s Army Corps Veterans Association. Stella joined this chapter in 1985. We had our monthly meeting this morning, Nov 13,and members shared their memories of Stella with the membership. On this week in November when we honor all veterans, we especially remember our Sister in Service, Stella. On behalf of Chapter 3 membership, condolances to the family.

  4. Mom (Donna) was a friend of Stella’s. They worked together at the church and mom helped Stella at home. Sorry to hear of her passing and our thoughts are with you during this time.
