Stephanie was born in Weirton, West Virginia, to the late Steve and Irene Pagur Martaus and is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Peterson. Stephanie dedicated her life to always helping others. She is loved and remembered by family and friends as a compassionate, open-minded, and inquisitive woman who was passionate about nature, the environment, and social justice issues. Stephanie had a drive to always continue learning and contribute to the advancement of society and the environment. On a sunny day, she could be found in her garden or at the park earthing or watching and feeding the birds. Stephanie cherished spending time with family, especially her son, Matthew. Consistent with her passion for helping others, she completed her Master’s in Social Work. After which, Stephanie worked in various settings and roles, and retired as a Behavioral Health Case Manager for Aetna Healthcare in 2016. Following her retirement, she continued to serve her community by volunteering at many places, including the Parkland’s of Floyds Fork, Monarch Butterfly research, and tutoring for reading for children through JCPS. She is survived by her son, Matthew Christian Peterson (Kristina); sisters, Katherine Maher, Christine Pyles, Patricia Asklar, and Barbara Modanlou (Houchang); her fur grandbaby, Ein; and many nieces and nephews.
