Susan “Sue” Barber 54, of Weirton, passed away, Friday, August 10, 2007 at her residence. She was born November 14, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Fred and Virginia Hughes Quigley.

Sue was formerly employed by the Weirton Steel Company as a personal secretary to Dr. J. L. Thompson. She also volunteered and worked for the Weirton Medical Center in the Admitting Department. Sue was Presbyterian by faith.


Sue is survived by her husband Michael Barber of Weirton; son, Matthew Barber, and daughter Katherine Barber both of Weirton; Sisters, Sarah Metzbower and her husband John of Shepherdstown, WV, and Jinny Sellers and her husband Mike of Augusta, GA.

Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 2007 from 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 14, 2007.

Interment will be at St Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV.

  4. Dear Mike, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Sue has been one of my friends since high school. She was the sweetest kindest person I’ve ever known. Always laughing, always making other laughs, she was a joy to be around. Even in her darkest times she never complained about how she was feeling, she was always interested in how I was doing. She wanted to know about my life, she wanted to talk about happy things and happy times. I come up your way every summer and I always made sure I saw her. The girls always get together with her and have girls night out, it is so fun, she will be sadly missed next time around.   11. Sarah and Jinny, I did not see the paper in time to get there last night, but called Randy right away. I am so sorry about Susie. I know that my parents thought so much of her, especially with my Mom coming in and out of the hospital all the time. She was always there with a smile to make her and all of us feel better.   12. To Sue’s Family, Sue and I were friends from Cove Church. She was financial secretary at that time and I was a volunteer secretary. We both had our health problems, but she never complained and would always ask how I was doing. I will miss her very much. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
