Susanna Helen Kobily,82, of Weirton passed away on January 11, 2022, at the Weirton Medical Center. Susanna was born in Langloth, PA on June 2, 1939, she was the fourth of five children born to Joseph and Susan Karnofel Pauchnik. Sue was a cheerleader at Saint Paul’s Catholic Grade School in Weirton and graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School in the Class of 1957. After high school she took a job as a telephone operator with C & P Telephone. This is where Bernard Kobily called her during lunch, and they made a date. Bernard and Sue were married on October 1, 1960. Bernard worked at Weirton Steel and Sue worked at the International Market as a deli clerk. After Bernie retired, Sue and Bernard made their home in Deltona, FL. They lived in Deltona for thirty years, where they were very active in the Our Lady of the Lakes Roman Catholic Church, where she was an eucharistic minister. Sue was involved in the Council of Catholic Women, Ran the church BINGO, Past President of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Saint Vincent DePaul Society. Sue also enjoyed the Red Hats Society and the Deltona Women’s Club, and the Catholic Cursillo. In the Weirton Area Sue was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, where she previously served on the renovation committee. She was also active with the Christian Mothers, Rosary Society, and Weirton Madonna Boosters. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, corn hole, Wii bowling, and visiting with her neighbors. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Pauchnik, and her sister, Marie Gratchen. She will be remembered with love by her husband, Bernard, her foster children, Rebecca and JoAnn Burdette, her brother, Jim (Linda) Pauchnik, of Weirton, her sister Betty (Peter)Fabian of Mingo Jct, OH; Amber Fuller who she raised for two years; and a special neighbor, George Gonzales of Deltona, FL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church 200 Preston Avenue Weirton Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.   3. All day on Tuesday, January 11th, Bernie and Susie were on my mind – so very strongly! Now that I see her obituary, I know why. Although I have not seen her or Bernie for decades, I have never ever forgotten the many moments we shared in years gone by and their many many personal kindnesses shown to me. God certainly has a very happy angel in heaven today! To those she leaves behind, know that you are in my heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
