Thomas Lee Straight, 95, of Weirton passed away Tuesday April 23, 2019 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born December 5, 1923 in Reader, WV, he was a son of the late Ezra and Goldie Haught Straight. He was also preceded in death by his wife Maxine E. Marshall Straight; his long-time companion Vivian Greene; granddaughter Andrea Marshall; brothers Eugene, Howard and Darrell Straight and sister Ruby Hirt. Tom was a life-long member of Mercy Baptist Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 10 and just received his 75-year pin with the Electrical Union IBEW. Tom proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He enjoyed golfing, playing dominos and going for drives. He was very involved with his church and spent many hours working there and at the Tri-State Christian Academy as well. He is survived by his daughters Carol (Bill) Duke of Chester, WV and Judy (Rodger) Pratt of Weirton; step-son David (Sally) Plants; step-daughter Gloria Plants both of Kittanning, PA; his first wife Gloria Maria “Dolly” Cassella Lantz; grandchildren Thomas (Marcy Gala) Pratt, Shon (Karen) Pratt, Trisha (Terry Board) Pratt, Brian (Reane) Marshall, John (Wendy) Marshall, William (Chrystal) Duke, Stacey and Sybil Plants; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers Edward Straight of Reader, WV and Jack (Peggy) Straight of New Cumberland and sisters Mable Higgenbotham of Alma, WV and Jo Ann Parson of Sissonville, WV. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Mercy Baptist Church, 3474 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, where additional visitation will be held on Friday from 9 until 10 am funeral services. Pastor M.R. Hawley will officiate. Interment will follow at Parks Cemetery, Alma, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Baptist Church. 3474 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton WV, 26062.   3. Tom was a good man. I got to know him well in the 90s when I was an Assistant Pastor at Mercy Baptist Church. He was very kind to me and all he knew.
