Vernon B. Depoy
August 12, 1929 ~ October 17, 2003
Vernon B. Depoy, 74, of Weirton, died Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1929 in Coolville, OH, son of Lure Depoy Miller of Bloomingdale, Ohio.
Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi Stull Depoy on March 5, 1998 and his half sister Kay Elaine Greer.
After 41 years of service, Vernon retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he worked as a millwright. Vernon loved animals and also loved to feed the birds around his home. Vernon enjoyed taking care of the neighborhood children. He was a member of Weirton Heights Church of Christ and the Greater Weirton Senior Citizen Center. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Louise (Lombardi) Depoy whom he married March 21, 2002; 2 step-daughters Mrs. William (Josie Lynn) Moran of Colliers, WV and Mrs. Shawn (Lisa Louise) Catlin of Pittsburgh, PA; a very special friend Jerry Clark of New Martinsville, WV; 6 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1-3 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 11 AM Monday with Minister Steve Smithbauer presiding. Entombment will be at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens in Follansbee, WV.
