Vesta Josephine Higginbotham

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Vesta Josephine “Jo” Higginbotham, 90, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, August 03, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born April 14, 1916 in Salem, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Starkey Helmick. Vesta was also preceded in death by her husband Kenneth C. Higginbotham in 1981 and sister Viva Gale McCaskey. Vesta retired from Weirton Steel where she worked as a Tin Flopper in the Tin Mill. She was a member of the Mercy Baptist Church, Golden Age Club and AARP. She is survived by her daughters Barbara Jean Kraina Hays and her husband Winford of Weirton and Patricia Ann Andochick and her husband Dr. Edward Andochick of Frederick, MD; seven grandchildren: Tammy Hays Zivic and her husband Edward of Chesapeake, VA; Gina Hays Monte and her husband Robert of Bethel Park, PA; Tricia Hays LaMantia and her husband Chad of Weirton; Dr. Scott Andochick and his wife Erika of Potomac, MD; Dr. Lori Andochick of Ijamsville, MD; Dr. Todd S. Andochick of Arlington, VA and Beth Andochick-Myers and her husband Joseph P. of Ijamsville, MD and nine great-grandchildren. Private visitation and services will be conducted at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Interment will be in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
