Vincent C. Oliver, 74, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, February 5, 2012, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Vincent was born September 14, 1937 in Weirton, WV, son of the late Joseph and Jennie Oliver. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Norman J. Oliver; three sisters, Ida Puzzuole, Helen Carpini, and Angeline Welshans. Vince retired from Weirton Steel Corporation after 38 years of service where he worked as a Machinist in the Central Machine Shop. After his retirement, Vince enjoyed traveling but his greatest enjoyment and love involved being with his children, grandchildren and family. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, Sons of Italy, Steubenville Catholic Central High School Boosters, President of Four Seasons , and a Life member of the Weirton Heights Volunteer Fire Department Vincent is survived by his loving fiance Carolyn Shaffer; two children, Vincent A. (Nancy) Oliver of Weirton and Susan (Tom) Crites of Steubenville OH ; three sisters, Antoinette Oliver, Josephine Cekinovich (Sam), and Rose Marie Mark (Butch) all of Weirton; sister in law, Frances Oliver of Weirton; seven grandchildren, Zachary M. Johnson, Emma Crites, Taylor, Brittney, Austin, Vincent, Jr., and Isabella Oliver . Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Rev Fr. Dean Borgmeyer and Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch will preside. Entombment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 6PM Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steubenville Catholic Central High School.

  17. My Uncle Vince was one of the kindest, and sweetest man you could ever know. Always had a smile that lit up the room and brightened your day. Always had a kind good word, had a way of always making your feel special. He was a very smart and loving man, he was dedicated to his family and I always saw him as the ‘head’ of this family. He loved my mother and always treated her with respect and would do anything for her.
