Virgil Joseph Mott, 84, of Weirton Died Sunday July 13, 2003 at the Heritage Place I, in Weirton. Virgil was born on July 27, 1918, in Tyler County, WV, the son of the late Isum H. and Cora Mason Mott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Matijevich Mott on February 5, 1996; his four brothers, Glen, Brady, Lester,and Emmett Mott; his five sisters, Delphia Northrop, Blanche Dearth, Fanny Adams, Ethel Dearth, and Virginia Ruth Mott. Virgil was a 1938 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School. He was a retired welder in the Tin Mill Department of Weirton Steel Corporation. He loved his church, the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class, and he and his wife Mary where former Baptist Youth Fellowship Leaders. Virgil was also a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, AARP 2788, Three Score Senior Citizens Club, New Cumberland Lodge 22 AF & AM, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Wheeling, Osiris Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., and the Northern Panhandle Shrine Club. Surviving include several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 Noon Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Pastor Larry Lewis will preside. Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV, with Masonic Services conducted bty the New Cumberland Lodge 22 AF & AM.
