Vonnie Lou Williamson, a loving and kind caregiver of Colliers, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 8, 2020, after a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. She was 88. Her last remaining years, she was blessed to be cared for by her daughter and family. Vonnie was born on January 8, 1932, in Colliers, WV the third child of seven children born to William and Annabelle Bleakney Barkley. Vonnie grew up in Colliers, WV, and at the age of 19 married Arthur J. Williamson. They were blessed with two children. Vonnie took care of the home while her husband worked as a truck driver for Starvaggi, and a well-driller. When the kids were raised Vonnie worked at Downtown Bakery before becoming a nursing assistant at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She also was the owner and operator of Williamson’s Personal Care Home, and a nurses’ aid at Weirton Medical Center, where she eventually retired from. In her free time, Vonnie enjoyed making tie fleece blankets and baking thousands of homemade cookies and spending time reminiscing with her friend Janet Kamppi. Most of all Vonnie enjoyed going to church, and when she could not go she would watch church on TV. She was a faithful member of the Colliers First Church of God. In addition to her parents, Vonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Williamson on March 25, 1987; and her second husband, William Chipps; her two grandsons, Joseph Williamson on September 1, 2011, and Shawn Cain on June 5, 2013, her son in law, Terry Cain on July 31, 2012; her brothers, Franklin D., and Kenny Barkley; and her sister, Marleen Ayers. Vonnie will be remembered with love by her son Arthur E. “R.T.” (Kathleen) Williamson; her daughter, Deborah “Debbie” (Tim Kryaninko) Cain; her brother, Bill (Donna) Barkley; her sisters, Darla (Don) Parrish and Harriett (George) Demko; her grandchildren, Vondalynn Williams, Brett Cain, Tracy Birmingham, Jason (Megan) Williamson; her great-grandchildren, Eli Cain, Haley Birmingham, Nick, and Damien Pannett, Dustin and Dallas Croakie, Ella, Devin Jessica, and Ashley Williamson, and Kris Green; and several great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at the Greco -Hertnick Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday. Her nephew, Rev. Larry Barkley will preside.
