Walter R. Latkiewicz 70 of Weirton died Saturday November 23, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1932 in Weirton, WV, the son of Victoria M. Gillette Latkiewicz of Weirton and the late Walter T. Latkiewicz. Walter was retired from the Weirton Steel Co. where he worked in the Tin Mill Department as a turn foreman. He had 38 years service with the company. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army in Korea. He is a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Walter is a member of the American Association of Metals, Knights of Columbus where he was past Grand Knight, past member of the Weirton Steel Management Club, Holy Name Society of the church and the Weirton Hospital Co. Walter was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-year club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Walter is survived by his wife Donna M. Veneman whom he married on November 3, 1956. He has one son Richard Latkiewicz and his wife Vera of Carrollton, GA, four daughters Barbara Knotts and her husband Steven of Thomas, WV, Beverly Merico and her husband Frank of Weirton, Brenda Young and her husband David of Knoxville, TN, and Lt. Col. Bridget Larew and her husband Charles of Bowie, MD. He has one sister Patricia Freeland and her husband Francis of Salsbury, NC. He has twelve grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main St., Weirton, WV. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be Tuesday 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will be at St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.
