Wanda L. Rees of Weirton died on July 20, 2009 in the Laurels of Steubenville. She was born in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Mills. She was married June 7, 1945 to Thomas G. Reese who preceded her in death on December 8, 1999. She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Helen Lewis, Beth Garden, Faye Laufketter and Margaret Jean Deadrick, brother James H. Mills and two nephews. She is survived by her daughter and her husband Holly Jean and William L. Yarter of Weirton; three grandsons, Mike Yarter and his wife Sandy of Las Vegas, NV, Chris Yarter and his wife Casey of Jacksonville, FL and Tom Yarter and his wife Jessica and granddaughter Jessica Yarter all of Weirton; 2 great-grandchildren Colton and Dillon Yarter; sister-in-law Margaret Rees and nieces Iris Rees and Patty Wagner. She also has several nieces and nephews in St. Louis, MO. Wanda was a graduate of Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau, MO and had taken graduate courses from Washington University of St. Louis and West Virginia University. She was a former teacher at Normandy, MO; Hayti, MO and Cove and Edgewood Schools in Weirton. She retired from Edgewood School in 1976 with 35 years of teaching. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a 50-year member of the Weirton Woman�s Club, GFWC having served as president from 1958-1960. She also was a member of the Literary Department and the Garden Department, serving as chairman of the latter. She was a member of the Weirton Chapter #147 Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22 from 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where Eastern Star services will be held at 7PM. Funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Reverend William Stout officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
