wayne keifer
Wayne C. Keifer, 81, of New Cumberland, WV died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at his residence. Born May 20, 1923, in Frankfort Springs, PA, he was the son of the late Scott and Elizabeth Cotter Keifer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Irene R. (Morgan) Keifer on January 9, 2003. After 30 years of service, Wayne retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a mechanic in the Tin Mill. He was a member of the VFW, the WSX 25-Year Club and served in the US Army during World War II. Wayne’s survivors include his son Wayne D. Keifer of New Cumberland; daughters Dorothy J. Roach of Vandergrift, PA, Joanne McClain of Weirton, Mary Ellen Wetstone of Quincy, MA and Brenda Hershberger of Akron, OH; brothers Lesley Keifer of Sewickley, PA; sisters Jean Kiffer and Ruth Hodge both of Frankfort Springs, PA; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Thursday with Pastor Robert Tate presiding. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military services will be conducted by the Weirton V.F.W. Post 2716 Firing Squad, the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard and the Tri-State Marine Corps. Share tributes with his family at www.grecohertnick.com.

Unfortunately I will be unable to come to the viewing or service due to my work schedule and a function on Thursday at Nicole’s school (last year at the elementary school – will be in middle school next year – so these activities and programs are very important to her).
