wayne keifer
Wayne David Keifer, 71, of New Cumberland, WV, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019, at his home. A son of the late Wayne C. and Irene R. Morgan Keifer, Wayne was born on August 18, 1947, in Steubenville, OH. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Anderson Keifer on March 18, 2018, whom he married in April, 1979. Wayne served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. He was employed at Weirton Steel for 36 years starting as a laborer and retiring as a continuous caster foreman in 2002. He attended Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, with his wife and family. Wayne was a Life Member of the VFW Post 2710 and the American Legion Post 10.He was also a member of the WSX 25-Year Club. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. He cherished every moment that he was able to spend with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. Wayne will be remembered with love by his daughter Cheryl Ann Keifer of New Cumberland; granddaughter Elana Kniszek and sisters Dorothy (Fred) Roach of Vandergrift, PA, Joanne McClain of New Cumberland, Mary Ellen Wetstone (Rev. Gerald) of Malden,MA, and Brenda (Rick) Hershberger of Kent, OH. Friends will be received Thursday 1-3 and 6-8PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Friday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military services being conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.
