wilbert morris, sr.
Wilbert Ray Morris, Sr., of Weirton, WV, a hardworking husband and father of eight passed away at the Brightwood Center on Saturday, September 26, 2020. He was 91. Born in Weirton, WV, on October 31, 1928, Wilbert was one of five children born to William Morris and Addie Williams Morris. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Wilbert retired after working 43 years from Weirton Steel, where he was a turn foreman on the Galvanizing Lines in the Sheet Mill. Wilbert was a member and a trustee of Morning Star Baptist Church, in Weirton, and was formerly the Worshipful Master at the Prince Hall AF & AM. In addition to his parents, Wilbert was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean (Nelson) Byrom, Mamie (Willie) Florence, and his brother, William (Junior) Morris. He will be remembered with love by his wife of 65 years, Eva “Patricia” Muntz Morris; his four sons, Wilbert, Jr. (Ellen), Phillip (NJ), John (Leslie), and Patrick (Shrica) Morris; four daughters, Marilyn Smith, Deborah Lam, Pamela Morris, and Sandra Suggs (George); ten grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and his sister, Fern Johnson of Steubenville, OH. Private family visitation and funeral will be held on Thursday at the Morning Star Baptist Church 3124 Weir Avenue Weirton, WV. Rev. James Brown will preside. Interment will follow with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and the West Virginia Army National Guard.
