William C. "Sonny" Galloway, 80, of Weirton, WV passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 in the Weirton Medical Center. Bill was born on February 11, 1929 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late William C. and Callie Lou Beasley Galloway. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Galloway Bailey; four brothers, Colonel, W. Dean, J. Rudy, and Paul Edward Galloway and two sisters, Wilma Hatfield and May Dillon. Bill retired from the Weirton Steel Plant Security, and was a Charter Member and past Treasurer and Board of Director of the Steel Works Federal Credit Union, which is now known as First Choice America. He was a member of the BPOE 1801, Pleasant Valley Country Club, American Legion Post 10 and the Past President of the Independent Guard Union. Sonny is survived by his wife, Isabell C. Brinker Galloway, whom he married on June 25, 1948; son, William E. Galloway of Weirton, WV; two brothers, Ernest Lee Galloway of Greenville, OH, and James Ross Galloway of Tempe, AZ; sister, Fannie Lou O'Brien of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Scott Bailey, Erica (Dave) Higginbotham, Staci and Kelly Galloway. Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 – 9:00PM and Saturday 10:00AM until the 2:00PM funeral services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Pastor Gary Lilly will preside. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, Pittsburgh Affiliate, 1133 South Braddock Avenue, Suite 1A, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 or to the American Heart Association. Your father protected and guarded the 1000’s of employees at WSX for many years and was truly respected as a great man. He will be sadly missed by many.
