William Carl Colvin, 69, of Weirton, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home. Born November 26, 1944 in Pleasants County, WV, he was a son of the late Ernest Earl and Edith Pearl Higgins Colvin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers John Phillip and Roger Lee Colvin, a sister, Martha McQuillian and great-grandson Brenden Colvin. Carl was a former employee of Weirton Steel, who in 1972 started Colvin Excavation and Sanitation, where he was the owner and operator until 2009. Red loved his work and helping others, he was always the first one to lend a hand. A member of the NRA, he was an outdoorsman, who loved hunting and spending time down in Pleasants County. Mr. Colvin is survived by his wife of 47 years Judy Ann Metz Colvin; whom he married on June 5, 1967; a son William Scott Colvin and his wife Sharilyn of Weirton; his favorite daughter, Roseanna Finney and her husband Stephen of Wheeling, WV; brothers Ernest (Beulah) Colvin of Estill Springs, TN, Tommy Colvin of Tennessee and David (Betty) Colvin of Weirton; sisters Hazel (Charlie) Bunner and Faye (Hosea) McDonald all of St. Mary's, WV and Edna (Pearley) Pifer of Ellenboro, WV; grandchildren Timothy William Shugart, Andrew Scott Colvin and Mariah Lynai Colvin and great-grandson Gavin Matthew Shugart. Visitation will be held 6-8PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8PM Thursday, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Friday 9 AM until the time of services at 10 AM Friday at the Voice of the Pentecost Church, 106 Mendenhall Street Weirton, WV Pastor Robert Keenan will officiate.
