William Gene Means

William Gene Means, 72, of Weirton died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 8, 1930 in Napier, WV the son of the late William A. and Ora G. Baker Means. William retired from Weirton Steel as a Roller on the #7 Tandem after 30 years of service. He also served his country from January 1951 to January 1955 in the United States Air Force and was a member of the WSX 25-Year Club. William is survived by his wife Bertha Jenkins Means; three sons, William J. and his wife Charlene Means, Gary L. and his wife Valerie Means all of Weirton, Thomas A. and his wife Debbie Means of Follansbee, WV; two step-children, Linda Townsend Alberti and her husband Richard Alberti of Batesville, AR, and Edward Randy Townsend of Weirton; nine grandchildren Stacey, Rick, Bryan and Cris Means, Sean Alberti, Heather Alberti Williams, Lori and Shannon Clash, Rhonda Townsend Merton. One brother, Roger Means of Louden, TX; two sisters Geraldine Means Morrison of Sutton, WV and Caroline Means Robinson of Brooksville, FL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and on Sunday, October 20 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, West Virginia 26062. Additional visitation services will be held on Monday, October 21 at 11:00 AM until time of the funeral services at 1:00PM at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods, West Virginia. The Rev. Nancy Cale will preside.
