Zigmund J. Slowikowski 83 of Weirton died Friday December 6, 2002 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born September 12, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Pa, the son of the late Frank and Josephine Slowikowski. His first wife Anna Kondik Slowikowski, brothers, Anthony, Leo and Robert and sisters Marcella Kondik, Jane Kramich, and Theresa Warsinsky also preceded him. Zigmund retired from National Steel Corp. where he worked for 28 years. He was a repairman in the Blooming mill. He was a US Navy WWII veteran, a member of the VFW, the 25-year club of Weirton Steel and the Mingo Senior Citizens. He was also a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. He is survived by his wife, Olive Bickerstaff Slowikowski of Weirton, sons Thomas Slowikowski and his wife Lynda, Robert Slowikowski and wife Mary Susan, daughter Rose Mary Zanieski and her husband Stanley all of Weirton, Step-son Robert Burns and his wife Sandra of Weirton, Step-daughters Peggy Freshwater and her husband Fred of Mingo, Ohio, and Vicki Angelo and her husband Fred of Weirton. He has ten grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2002 from 1-3 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main St., Weirton. Funeral liturgy with mass will be Monday, 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church Weirton. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Dear Bob and Sue Bob, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad, and I am really sorry that I couldnt pay my respects in person at the funeral home (especially since Sue came to the funeral home when my dad died).
