Barbara Elizabeth Lee McMillan
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Elizabeth Lee McMillan “Piatt”, who left this world on May 30th, 2026. She was 77 years old, born on July 16th 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. Barbara spent her later years in Weirton, West Virginia where she became a beloved figure in her community.
Barbara was a dedicated mother to her three children, Tamara Aitken, Brian McMillan, and Kevin McMillan – who will forever cherish her unwavering love and support. She was also a proud grandmother to Trenton Aitken, Taylor Provenzano, John McMillan, Anthony Gomes, and Brooke McMillan, who will forever remember her for her spirit and the nurturing warmth she brought to their lives. Barbara was also a great-grandmother to Zelda and Laszlo.
A strong and resilient woman, Barbara’s life was a testament to the power of compassion and determination. She provided stability for her family through her work as manager at Farm Fresh for 15 years, instilling values of hard work and perseverance in all who knew her. Despite the hardships she faced, Barbara’s heart was always open to giving and helping others. Barbara also embodied a spirit of tough love that many came to appreciate and depend on.
Barbara’s passions were diverse; she relished her quiet moments spent reading, found joy in creating beautiful floral arrangements, and nurtured her creativity by collecting wicker baskets even if she never got the chance to craft with them. Her love for people was evident in the way she connected with those around her, always ready with a listening ear or kind word.
Barbara is also survived by her brother Franklin “Junior” Piatt and sister-in-law Barbara Piatt. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clyde McMillan, her parents Franklin Piatt and Virginia Spurrier, her sisters Phyllis Rutter and Madelyn Mann, her brother Phillip Piatt, and beloved granddaughter Kylie McMillan.
In honor of Barbara’s life and legacy, a visitation will be held on June 6th, 2026 at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. It will be a time to remember her strength, kindness, and the myriad of ways she touched our lives.
Per her request Barbara will be cremated at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton West Virginia, 26062.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Valley Hospice in Trinity Medical Center West.
