A.“Gertrude” Fisher, a 65 year resident of Weirton, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, in her home on Hudson Avenue with her family by her side. She was born in Tyler County, WV, the youngest daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Belle Vancort Galloway. Gertude was loved by all and never met a stranger. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church; the Greater Weirton and Follansbee Senior Citizens Clubs; Womens Auxilliary Club of the Moose; Three Score Senior Citizens Club; Order of the Amaranth (Elizabeth Varner Circle); Ladies Auxilliary of the VFW. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two brothers; Mottie and Archie Galloway; and four sisters, Della Peters, Lillian Givens, Martha Hayes, and Leona Ankron; her daughter, Ruby Ann Lowther; her granddaughter, Denise Diane Arnett; and her long time companion, Lester Lash. Gertrude is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lynda Arnett of Belmont Shore, CA; five grandchildren, Michelle Bussjaeger, Gregory Arnett, Wade Lowther, Jody Lowther, and Cheryl Ann Litteral; and seven great grandchildren; Joelle, Christian, Brandon, Marisa, Ciera, Jessie, and Ryan; three nieces, Isabelle, Meryl, and Shirley; and one nephew, Allan. Her loving extended family of Lester and Karen Lash, Walter and Brenda Lash, and Flora and Sparky Shoe, also survives her. Gertrude was the most pleasant and loving woman you’d ever meet. This “Special Lady” has touched the hearts of all who knew her. Wonderful memories of her will linger in our hearts forever. She will be greatly missed. Friends and family may visit her from 7-9 PM Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday.
