Agnes Watt

Agnes Watt of Weirton passed away at her daughter’s home in The Woodlands, TX, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the age of 93.
She was born on December 17, 1928, in Weirton, WV, the eldest of four girls born to Samuel and Mary Vento Lamalfa.
Agnes graduated from Weir High School in 1947. After graduation she was employed by Weirton Steel Corporation until her marriage to William “Jay” Watt on June 30,1951 at St Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.
Jay was a veteran of World War II where he proudly served his country. He was a rolling mill operator at Weirton Steel Corporation. Agnes and Jay were married for 65 years until his death on March 8, 2017. They were blessed with two children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In her free time, Agnes liked to golf at Pleasant Valley Country Club and to play bridge and 31 with her many friends. She loved to swim, to be in the sunshine, and to babysit her grandchildren.
Agnes was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Pleasant Valley Country Club, Christian Mothers, Knights of Columbus 3734 Ladies Auxiliary, Greater Weirton Senior Center and the ISDA Weirtonian Lodge number 0183
She will be remembered with love by her son William Samuel Watt and his wife Diane; and her daughter, Mary Ann Basconi and her husband, Jerry; her sisters, Thelma Kittle (Charles Kittle), Josephine Antlake (John Antlake), and Marie Rostic; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Agnes loved to host holidays and get-togethers. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, who were always happy to eat her homemade gnocchi. Agnes was a tremendous source of joy and strength for her family and always reminded them how much they were loved. She was a gracious and generous spirit and will be greatly missed by everyone.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday March 25th, 2022, at 10:15 AM at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
