Alfred John Boniti, 96 of Weirton, WV died on Thursday May 26, 2016, in Serra Manor. Born March 29, 1920 in Midland, PA, he was a son of the late Cesidio and Maria Calabrese Bonitatibus. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Foley Boniti who passed away July 12, 2000; brothers Elmer J., Dan, Domenic and Domenic Boniti; sisters Maria DeCollo, Emma Collo, Margaret Bernardi, Viola D'Augustino and her infant twin, Laura Julian and Rose Ciccolella. In 1939 Al graduated from Weir High School. He was the only member of his family to graduate high school. He was the Class of 1939's class treasurer a position he held until the last four years. He served his country during World War II with the US Army, and took part in the United States Invasion of Normandy. After the service, Al worked as a serviceman for Home Furniture in Downtown Weirton for 43 years. He continued his career with Simons Furniture eventually becoming the assistant manager for the Knights of Columbus in Weirton. Al was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734, and was a founding father and past president of the Sons of Italy Antonio Meucci Lodge. He is survived by his sons, Charles (Elizabeth) Boniti of Syracuse, NY, and Alfred (Patty) Boniti of Weirton; a daughter, Deidre (Larry) Wright of Weirton; grandchildren Kathryn (Scott) Wallace and Loretta Boniti; step grandchildren, Larry (Liz) Wright III and Marilyn (Tom) Fontana; great grandchildren; Jackson and Anne Wallace; and step great children, Gavin Fontana and Anya Wright. Visitation will be held 3-7 PM on Sunday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Reverend Father Manuel Gelido will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum.   1. Al, Patty, Dee & Larry. I’m so sorry to hear that Al has passed on. I will always remember him from his friendship with my father. I remember he would come to our house and they would play poker in our basement. I also remember several service calls he made while employed at Home Furniture and his years at the Knights. I’m not sure he ever knew my name….. I was “Rays son”. He will be remembered by many and greatly missed.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Alfred was always a favorite of mine, even when he used to tie my shoes together via my shoe laces when I was a kid. I shall always remember his kind smile and his many tricks like making Quarters disappear in his ears. He and my dad, Al’s nephew, John Bernardi, grew up together. My dad always spoke very highly of Uncle Al. I remember dad saying how Uncle Al treated him like a brother. Uncle Al, I’ll miss you.
