Alfred (Tex the DJ) Riter, 73 of Weirton died Wednesday Feb 6, 2002 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on December 21, 1928 in Littleton, WV, the son of the late James and Rachel Mason Riter. His infant daughter, Bobbi Jo Riter, his four brothers, Bill, Glenn, Frank, Ernie Riter and an infant sister also preceded Tex in death. He retired from Weirton Steel after 35 ½ years of service, as a superintendent of the Coke Plant. Tex was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-year Club, Paris Sportsman’s Club and the American Legion Post 10. Surviving include his wife Atha (Mildred) Riter, whom he married on April 3, 1948; his son, James Riter and his wife Kimberly of Richmond, OH; his daughters Patty Salonica and her husband Ted of Weirton, Sandy Chambers and her husband Butch and Bonny Scopel and her husband Jack all of Burgettstown, PA; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren Visitation will be 6-9 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30PM at the funeral home. Rev.
