Resided in:
Weirton, WV
A precious soul, Ameana Abdo, of Weirton, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many passed away at Allegheny General Hospital on Monday, July 24, 2023. She was fifty-nine years old.
She was born on Sunday, December 8, 1963, in Weirton. A daughter of Mohamed and Elsie (Harezey) Abdo.
Ameana was a member of the 1982 graduating class of Weir High School. She was employed at the Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort with over eighteen years of faithful service as a Reservationist, she was well known to brighten anyone’s day!
Ameana had an inherent trait to help others. She did so by the simple gesture of a smile, the card in the mail to lift one’s spirit, or whatever the occasion, everyone knew that Ameana was coming with something to leave an impression and put a smile on your face. She was doing God’s work on earth and all the individuals she knew looked forward to being in her daily presence.
She always kept her house beautifully decorated. Whatever the season or holiday she was celebrating, there would be a tree decorated that would highlight that time of year or that specific moment in time. She enjoyed changing the trees month after month and making her home very inviting and welcoming.
If you knew Ameana, she loved to laugh, the world’s best medicine. She would find humor in the simplest of things, but the one thing that would make her laugh and laugh uncontrollably is watching re-runs of sitcoms and the slapstick comedy that was portrayed in those comedies years ago.
Ameana’s passing will undoubtedly leave numerous hearts saddened, but if you were fortunate enough to know her and know how she affected people, you can exhibit that enthusiasm for life which she possessed and continue to make the lives of so many people brighter in her own distinct way.
Ameana was preceded in death by her parents, brother Abby, and niece Tyra Crawford.
Left to cherish her memory fondly are her sisters, Fatima Abdo of Moundsville, and Salema (Robert) Crawford of Bryan Texas, her nieces and nephews, Darlene, Bobby, Charna, Crawford, her beloved cat Rattles, and her Best Friend and Partner for over ten years, David Pendergrast.
Friends will be welcome to visit Ameana’s family on Sunday, from 2 pm until 6 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 am.
Pastor Jason Romine will officiate.
Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.

My ‘Meana,
I am so saddened by your passing.
So kind and funny, you made me laugh a million times when we were kids. I still think of our walks around the neighborhood, writing notes back and forth at school, fortune tellers, playing jax, curling your hair with pop cans… we were always up to something. I’ll never forget you my sweet friend.

Prayers to the family that God will provide comfort during this time of sorrow.
RIP.
I’m in awe. May you rest in peace Ameana. You are a great person.
Loved this girl. She always smiled. I will smile when I think of her, always.
Who ever wrote the obituary was entirely accurate. A wonderful person. She battled health issues for many years and still projected that smile. She was so beautiful that in my mind she was unapproachable. I was wrong, always warm and friendly. She worked hard to achieve her goals. I’m very sad.
Ameana, you were always such a sweet and beautiful lady and was so saddened to hear that you left this world. Even though we lost touch as adults, I have so many wonderful memories of our high school years. My deepest condolences to Fatima and Salema.
Dear sweet, beautiful Ameana may you rest easy in the arms of the angels🙏
I had not seen you in years but I immediately thought about your beautiful smile, your laughter, and wonderful personality!
Deepest sympathy to your family and friends!! May their precious memories bring them peace and comfort!! Gone too soon!!
I will keep all your loved ones in my thoughts and prayers for strength, peace and comfort!
I was so sad to see this today. My thoughts and eaters are with you Salem’s and Fatima. My Flower Girl. Such a sweet soul.
