Anita G. “Sam” Metz Simpson of Weirton a loving, caring mother and grandmother passed away Friday, June 11, 2021. She was 84. Born on December 26, 1936, in Grantsville, WV, Anita was the seventh of eight children born to Sam and Freda Langford Hall. Anita was a waitress for most of her adult working career. She worked at the Weirton Elby’s for 7 years, Gio’s for 15 years, and Pizza Hut for 23 years. Most of all, Anita cherished the times she spent with her grandchildren, She loved collecting gnomes and hummingbirds, taking pictures, dancing to fifties music, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. She will always be remembered as a hard worker and for her giving nature. She was always there for you. In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her sons, William “Bill” and Rodney Metz, her brothers, James and Wilbur Hall. Her sisters, Madeline “Peg” Hendershot and Gladys Yost; her grandson, Aaron Bowen Griffin; and her son-in-law, Dean Griffin. She will be remembered with love by her daughters, Darla (Jim) Cassiadoro and Debora Griffin; her brother, Ray Hall, her sisters, Mazie (Wayne) Glover and Grace (Harry) Moore her nine grandchildren, Benjamin (Crickett) Griffin, Timothy (Aileen) Griffin, Joy (Earl) Johnson, Summer, Ryan, Cassie and Charlene Metz, Dylan (Hannah) Cassiadoro and Angelo (Emily) Cassiadoro; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday Noon until the time of funeral services at 1 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Garden. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anita’s memory to assist with the care of Anita’s great-grandson Luca’s upcoming heart surgery.
