Anna Marie Podeszwa

Anna Marie Podeszwa, 91, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at The Inn at Wyngate. Born August 3, 1916 in Barberton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Bodnar Rujak. Anna was also preceded in death by her husband Ignatius E. Podeszwa; an infant child; brothers Steve, Paul, John, Mike and Albert Rujak and sister Mary Agnes Rujak.
Anna retired from Weirton Steel where she worked in the Executive Dining Room. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, WSX 25-Year Club, Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary. She was the Historian for Three Score Seniors. Anna loved working in her flower garden, doing arts and crafts, and traveling.
Anna is survived by her son Eugene R. Podeszwa and his wife Carol of Hedgesville, WV; daughter Donna A. Backel and her husband Robert of Gautier, MS; brother Andy Rujak and his wife Mary Ann of Weirton; sister Margaret Rojak of Weirton, and her 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who were the love of her life.
Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

Dear Donna & Family: So very sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. She was a lovely lady who made everyone feel comfortable in her home. I remember Donna & Gene teasing her….. she was such a good sport. I recall her accompaning Donna to dance lessons on Saturday via bus. She was a loving mother and a very nice person. Annetta
Please know of my heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother. I always enjoyed talking with her back in the early 90’s when I was stationed at St. Paul’s. I’m sure God has a special place for her in Heaven!
