Anthony Joseph Fuscardo, Sr., 79, of Weirton, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born August 23, 1928 in Follansbee, WV, he was the son of the late Frank Fuscardo and Mary (Cosenza) Fuscardo Smearman. With 43 years of service, Anthony retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a dispatcher and truck driver in the Trucking Department. He was a member of St. Peter's Church in Steubenville, OH where he served as an usher for 35 years. For over 30 years, he was a bingo caller at St. Peter's and St. Anthony's church. He also served as President of Theta Chi Alpha Fraternity and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Fuscardo is survived by his wife Cecilia Lemsky Fuscardo of Weirton, whom he married in 1949; son Anthony Joseph "Tony" Fuscardo, Jr. and his wife Toni; daughters Roseann (Fuscardo) and her husband Steven Llewellyn and Vickie Chappell all of Steubenville, OH; brothers Sundo, Nick and Ralph Fuscardo, Sr. of Weirton and Frank Fuscardo of Huntington, WV; sister Florence Cassella of Weirton; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30AM Friday, August 22, 2008 at St. Peter's Church in Steubenville. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton, where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad and Weirton Honor Guard. I had the utmost admiration and respect for him and he will be greatly missed, and never forgotten. Sorry I couldn’t make it to the funeral home. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
