Anthony (Tony) D'Alesio

Anthony "Tony" D'Alesio, 91, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 in the Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, OH. Born July 27, 1920 in Pettorano sul Gizio, Provincia L'Aquila, Italy, he was a son of the late Croce and Gioviana DiFonzo D'Alesio. He was also preceded in death by his wife Carmela R. Ballato D'Alesio on August 27, 2004, whom he married in 1948, son Anthony D'Alesio, Jr., brother Guy D'Alesio and sister Victoria Suffoletta.
With 45 years of service, Tony retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the bearing gang of the Strip Steel Department. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734 and the Sons of Italy. He loved his garden and playing bocce with his family and friends.
Mr. D'Alesio is survived by his son Vincent D'Alesio; daughter Linda Magnone and her husband Tony; brother Joseph D'Alesio all of Weirton; sister Maria DePanfilis of Italy; 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday 10-11:30AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 4PM Friday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 12 noon Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.

Vince, Linda and family. I was so sorry to read in this morning’s paper that Tony had died. He was such a good man. I remember all the years that we knew him. I always enjoyed visiting with him and your mom. We will remember you all in our prayers and keep you in our hearts. Love, Kathy & Karl.

D’Alesio Family, I am very glad to have met Tony playing Bocce with him at the KofC. He told me many stories of my Grandfather whom I never met as he passed before I was born. He was a great guy who will be sorely missed. You have my deepest condolences. Sincerely
