Armando D'Amico
February 13, 1931 ~ November 1, 2020
Armando D’Amico, 89, of Weirton, WV, died peacefully at his home on November 1, 2020.
Armando was born in Castel Frentano, Italy, the youngest son and last remaining child of five siblings born to Guiseppe and Rosaria D’Amico.
Armando immigrated to the United States with his brother Americo in 1952. He returned to Italy in 1956 and met and married his wife of 64 years, Adalgisa Martini. They started their new life together by moving to the United States, where they were warmly welcomed and helped by relatives in Weirton, WV, and here they decided to make their home. They raised four children, Joseph D’Amico (Sandy Sellers), Michael (Michelle) D’Amico, Maria (Joe) DiBartolomeo, and Michele (Rocky) Bragg, all of Weirton, WV. They were also blessed with six grandchildren, Christina (Ben) Boswell of Cleveland, OH, Michaela (Mike) Ludewig of Toronto, OH, Joey (Danielle) DiBartolomeo of Columbia, SC, Monica Bragg, Michael and Nicholas D’Amico, a great-granddaughter, Mila Ludewig arriving in December, and niece Roseann D’Amico along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Armando was a dedicated, hard worker. He retired from Weirton Steel as a Bricklayer after 40 years of service. He loved spending time with family and friends. Together with his wife, they hosted countless gatherings, holidays, birthdays, and dinners every Sunday. Their hospitality is legendary. They were a “well-oiled machine.” Armando did the shopping (he was a very familiar face at all the local grocery stores!), and Adalgisa did the cooking. Together they happily fed everyone who walked into their home.
Armando’s memory will remain a great inspiration to all people. His humility, generosity, graciousness, and kindness were exemplary. Soft-spoken and selfless, he was the wind beneath his family’s wings. He never looked for glory for himself, but always to glorify God.
It’s been a great honor, Dad. You’ve been so easy to love, giving so much of yourself and asking so little in return.
May God Bless, Guard, Guide, Heal, Shield, and Protect you. We love you.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM Tuesday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV.
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Mausoleum.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home.
Thank you, family, and friends, for all the prayers, well wishes and visits and thank you to Valley Hospice for their care, especially Kyra, Denise and Father George.

When my wife and I were first married we moved into a duplex apartment right next door to the D’Amicos they were the best neighbors you could ask for hard working people which was no surprise in those days but what impressed me most was their dedication to family years later in 2011 when I was running for city council I was walking the old neighborhood trying to drum up support and I stopped at their house on Debbie Lane well it was Sunday afternoon and of course they had the family in for dinner and they invited me in for dinner which I to my regret didn’t take advantage of because I was trying to stop at as many houses as I could but that’s who they were anyone was welcome at their home and it saddens me to see these people who’ve made our community what it is passing on. My deepest condolences to the family on the passing of this good man.
God will have open arms for Armando. Rest in piece and prayers for the family during this time.

To the D’Amico Family: So sorry to hear about the loss of Armando. My brother Frank Bruno was always at your house and playing with your kids when they were children. You treated him as one of your own. My mother used to ride the bus with him and his brother when she was working at Weirton Manor. They were so nice to her. I used to see him at the store and church always and will miss that. He was a great man and will be deeply missed. Our deepest condolences to the D’Amico Family. He was a great man and will be missed. God Bless You All.

Maria and family– We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. Chris remembers seeing him in Krogers when she was still working and says what a nice gentleman he was! I had a great time pouring cement with him at Osvaldo’s — what a hard worker! Hoping that all of your wonderful memories help you through the coming days. Sam & Chris Greco

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. D’Amico at one of Mike’s Super Bowl parties. I remember his friendly smile and gentle manner. He always made me feel welcome whether it was at a party or watching Mike’s band play. His love for his family and friends was very evident, such a wonderful man that will undoubtedly be missed.
