Athena Zevios

Athena Zevios, 91, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at home with her loving family at her side. Born on April 25, 1925, in Weirton, Athena was a daughter of the late Constantine M. and Angeline Stamatellos Zevios. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Mike and George Zeke Zevios; and her sister, Thelma E. Zevios. Athena worked in the accounting department of Weirton Steel for over 40 years. She was a devoted member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, where she sang in the church choir. Athena enjoyed gardening and loved animals. She will always be remembered for her quick-witted sense of humor. She is survived by her nieces and nephew, George and Betty Zevios, whom in recent years made her home with; Dee Upright, and Media and Joe Myer, all of Weirton; several great-nieces and nephews, many great friends and her church family at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where Trisagion Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be Friday 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West St., Weirton, WV. Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese will preside. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saint Greek Orthodox Church.
