Barbara Jean Hays, 83, of Weirton passed away Saturday August 27, 2016, at the Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on July 21, 1933, at her family's home in Weirton, WV, Barbara beat all medical odds of survival. She was born severely premature with a birth weight of one and a half pounds. In 1958 she graced the cover of the Weirton Steel Bulletin, the same picture that appears in her obituary. Barbara lived a quiet life she found enjoyment in sharing time with her husband, three beautiful daughters, and five loving grandchildren. In her free time she enjoyed watching movies and reading books. In her later years she enjoyed visiting Tricia at work and interacting with the children. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Kraina, and Kenneth and Vesta Helmick Kraina Higginbotham; and her husband, Winford W. "Shorty" Hays, on August 15, 2008.
