Bernice Zulkoski, 100, of Weirton died Sunday January 24th, 2015, at the Lancia's Villa Royale. Born on November 11, 1914, in Weirton, WV, Bernice was a daughter of the late Walter and Frances Pierzchala Gromek. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruno P. Zulkoski; her son, William Zulkoski; her four brothers, Stephen, Joseph, Raymond and Stanley Gromek; and her four sisters, Anna Gromek, Gladys Klakos Zamojski, Sophie Lengyl and Theresa Nogay. Bernice was a homemaker who enjoyed her flower garden. Her favorite pastimes included swimming, playing BINGO, cards and Polka dancing. Her love for polka music began when her father played the saxophone and clarinet in a polka band. Bernice is survived by her two sons, Jim Zulkoski of Weirton, WV, and Walter Zulkoski and his wife Gerry of Ossining, NY; her sister, Irene Crago of Weirton, WV; numerous nieces and nephews including Dolores Smith and her husband, Chuck. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery, Weirton, WV. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart of Mary Church 200 Preston Avenue Weirton, WV 26062 Bernice's family would like to thank Valley Hospice and Lancia's Villa Royale Nursing Home for all of the care they provided to her.     We’re sorry we can’t be there to say goodbye to Aunt Bernice. Her laugh, her distinctive voice, and memories of her and Uncle Bruno doing the polka at the Polish picnic and all the weddings will stay with me forever.
