Betty Mae Wells, 81, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born August 19, 1927 in Mannington, WV, she was the daughter the late Nelson Roosevelt and Mae Booth Hawkinberry. Mrs. Wells was also preceded in death by her brothers Donald, Thomas and Gary Hawkinberry and sister Frances Mayes. Betty was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Weirton. Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband William Wells of Weirton; son Terry William Wells and his companion Dona Hilderbrand of Follansbee, WV; brothers James H. Hawkinberry of Grafton, WV, Denzil "Jack" Hawkinberry of Mannington, WV and Gary L. Hawkinberry of Maryland; sister Alberta Jean Hayes of East Liverpool, OH; grandson Ralph Hilderbrand and his wife Shannon; great-grandchildren Noah and Paige Hilderbrand and her puppy Gabbie. Friends will be received Saturday from 1-3 and 6-8 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 10 until the 11AM funeral services at the First Church of the Nazarene. Entombment will be in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee. I have fond memories of Mrs Wells, in church you could find her seated near the front on the piano side or at Camp Meeting in Summersville. Mr and Mrs Wells shared many memmories with my parents, Deloyd and Betty Barkley at Camp Meeting. Surround your family in Gods constent love, till you meet her again.
