betty dolentin
Betty Matheos Dolentin, 82, of Weirton, passed away on June 17, 2022, with her family by her side. Betty was born on June 25, 1939, to Steve and Irene (Makricosta) Matheos. She was a graduate of Weir High Class of 1957. On May 2, 1970, she married Joseph Dolentin. In their 51 years of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter and 2 grandsons. Betty worked as a telephone operator for C & P Telephone and then she moved to Washington DC to be a telephone operator at the Pentagon. Upon returning to Weirton, she worked for Dr. I. As her daughter grew up, she became a volunteer at WMC where she earned the 1000-hour service award and was very proud of the cookbook she published for the Ladies Auxiliary. She also spent 10 years babysitting her "little PJ" Zuros. Betty was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of Christian Mothers. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joseph on June 21, 2021, her parents Steve and Irene Matheos, two brothers, Adam and Jimmy Makricosta, a sister, Ann Koukoulis, and son-in-law Brian O'Neill. She leaves behind her daughter, Amy O'Neill, and her fiancé, Jamie Austin (daughters Kayelee and Alena), and last, but not least, her "boys", grandsons Tyler Brian O'Neill and Matthew Joseph O'Neill. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church 229 California Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062. A very special thanks to Weirton Geriatric Center, 2nd floor for their love and compassion for the 12 years she was a resident. They became her second family and she loved them.
