Carla Jo Greiner, 56, of Weirton, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the Weirton Medical Center after a recent battle with cancer. Born on February 16, 1959 in Weirton, Carla was a daughter of the late John S. and Mildred "Mitzi" Della Greiner. Carla graduated from Weir High School and West Virginia University. After college, She worked for Kaufmann's Department Store (presently Macy's) for many years, where she was a floor manager in Pittsburgh, prior to accepting the position of Merchandiser for the Gabriel Brother's. She was currently the Office Manager of Colonial Heights UMH Properties in Wintersville, OH. Carla was also in partnership with her sister, Lisa, in their family chocolate business and stores. Carla was an avid reader. She loved the outdoors whether it was taking walks or simply just sitting inthe sun. But most of all, Carla will be remembered for her love of taking care of others. She wasalways helping her family, spending time with her great nephew Santino or caring for her neighbors. She will be sadly missed by her beloved companion of 25 years, Mike Ovington, with whom she shared her home and her life; her three brothers Stephen and Nancy Greiner of Shallotte, NC; Jon and Susan Greiner of Toronto, OH and Nick Greiner of Weirton; her sister Lisa and John DiCarlo of Mingo Jct., OH and many nieces and nephews including Nick (Erin) Greiner, Natalie (Josh) Koontz, Nicole and Johnny DiCarlo, John K. and Jacquelyn Greiner. Carla has five great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where additional visitation will be held Saturday from 10 AM until 12 PM. Private family funeral services will be held at the convenience of her family. The Very Reverend Father Rade Merick will officiate Interment will be in the Serbian Cemetery, Weirton, WV.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about Carla. I have many cherished memories with her. Her warm smile, kind heart and great sense of humor will never be forgotten.

  2. My prayers are with all of you. Carla was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met; always giving of herself to help anyone. I have been thinking of her and remembering the great times Larry & I had with Csrla & Mike— the Tom Petty concert, the Elton John concert, grilling in the back yard, sitting in the sun………& so much more. She is missed very much.
