Carol Christine Altomare, 56, of Colliers, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at West Penn Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Born on March 29, 1969, in Washington, PA, she was a daughter of Carolyn and Joe Poskin, and Chris and Shirley Reitter.

A 1987 graduate of Brooke High School, Carol devoted much of her life to the care and support of others. She worked for many years as a Teacher’s Assistant at Allegheny Valley Schools, bringing joy and compassion to individuals with various disabilities. Her heart was as big as her smile—always ready to give, comfort, and share a laugh.

Carol had a sweet tooth that matched her sweet spirit. Even when she wasn’t supposed to indulge, she couldn’t resist sneaking a treat occasionally. She adored her grand-dogs—Muppet, Harley, and Rugs—and spoke of them as lovingly as family. Summers were often spent making joyful memories in her parents’ pool, and some of her happiest days were those spent vacationing in Cherry Grove, North Myrtle Beach, with the sea breeze and sunshine on her face.

A woman of genuine warmth and generous spirit, Carol made everyone feel like family.

She loved sushi, horses, and laughter-filled gatherings with friends and family.

Carol’s faith brought her comfort. One week before her passing, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Shirley Reitter, and husband, Paul.

Left to cherish her memory fondly are her parents, Joe and Carolyn Geiger Poskin, her children which were the Light of her life and gave her the reason to smile, Antonio Luigi Altomare of Colliers affectionately called “Dirt Ball” and Francesca (Chelsea) Henry of Toronto, affectionately called “Peanut,” sisters Milissa (Joe) Reed of Colliers, Christina Cross of Colliers, Teri Moran of Weirton, and Jennifer (Chet) Nede of McDonald, PA., brothers Mike Moran of Wellsburg, Steve (Beth) Moran of Colliers, Will (Josie) Moran of Colliers, and Joe (Alicia) Poskin of Butler, PA., and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Carol’s request for cremation will be honored.

She will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.

A Celebration of Carol’s life will be scheduled at the convenience of her family.
