Carol Jane Truax, 80, of Colliers, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Born in Steubenville on August 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Rose Corrine Weimer Lutes.

Carol graduated from Follansbee High School in 1962 and gave over twenty-eight years of faithful service to Weirton Steel in their Tin Mill as a millwright.

A woman of faith, Carol found strength and comfort in the Methodist discipline. She had a passion for the simple joys of life, cherishing the company of her beloved animals, including her chickens, goats, and cats.

An artist at heart, she expressed herself through painting, with nature scenes being her favorite subject. Her creativity also extended to poetry, capturing many well delivered lines amongst assorted topics.

Carol’s greatest love was her family, treasuring every moment spent with them. Known for her warm and home-loving nature, she created a place of love and comfort for those closest to her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her daughter Nina Tennant, brother David Lutes, sisters Donna Rae Buzzard, Rita Mae Sigley, Brenda Ann McVicker, Susan Thompson, and Ruth Lutes.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steven (Valerie) Truax of Weirton, Brian (Saundra) Truax of Colliers, grandchildren John (Sara) Tennant, Megan (Jeff) Rice, and seven great-grandchildren.

Carol’s wish for cremation will be honored.

She will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, 26062.
