Carolyn (Carol) Pietranton, 69, of Weirton passed away at her home on Sunday July 1, 2012. Born on December 14, 1942, Carol was the daughter of the late Carl and Susan Petrisak Swick of Toronto, OH. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Pietranton, and her son, Jon R. Pietranton. As the first female police officers in Weirton history, Carol and Linda Halapy Stankiewicz joined the Weirton Police Department in 1976. She retired with 16 years of service and went on to own and operate Antonio's Catering with her husband, Tony. Later, they also operated an antiques business. In her free time, Carol enjoyed traveling, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Women's Club and a past president of the L.B. Millsop PTA. Carol is survived by her daughters, Donna (Steve) Thomas of Baltimore, MD, Danita (James Siudak) Himmelrick of Weirton, Monica Rex Westfall of Fairview, PA; sons, Joseph (Karlene) Pietranton of Naples, FL, Anthony (Kathy) Pietranton, and Mark (Susie) Pietranton all of Weirton; 15 grandchildren, Carla Thomas, Zachary and Taylor Himmelrick, Eric Rex, and Michael Westfall, Erika, Bryan, Katie, Elizabeth , Anthony, Mary, Daniel, Emily, Mark and Mia Pietranton. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. F.O.P. 84 Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM, with the F.O.P. 84 standing Honor Guard from 7 to 8 PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, State Route 150 Rayland, OH 43943 or to Saint Paul's Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I can still see her strutting down the field in her majorette uniform at Jefferson Union High School. Your mom was one of the best looking girls in our class. She was always so kind and nice to people and had a huge smile for everyone. I always admired her smile and her laugh. I am glad she got to go to our 50th year reunion and we got to see her.My best to all of you. As long as you guys share your wonderful memories of her , she will be with you. May she rest in peace.
