Surrounded by her family, Casimira T. "Katy" Gill, 91, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at her home. Born March 4, 1923 in Steubenville, OH, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Fabrycka Mieczkowski. She was also preceded in death by her husband Chester J. Gill on September 8, 1989, brothers Ted, Stanley and Walter Mieczkowski and sisters Helen Zychal and Theresa Yanch. A loving homemaker, mother and grandmother, Katy was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church and the Christian Mothers. When she wasn't planting or weeding in her gardens, she truly enjoyed planning and hosting the yearly Gill parties. Katy is survived by her sons Anthony (Sharon) Gill of Weirton, Joseph Gill of Littleton, MA and Stephen (Dee) Gill of Weirton; daughters Barbara (Paul) Testa of Cumberland, RI, Marie (Bud) Skedel of Broadview Heights, OH and Kathleen Gill (Mark Sprague) of Lexington, MA; sister Jane Lasson of Steubenville, OH; grandchildren Peter and Beth Testa, Randy and Dan Skedel, Michelle Whipple, Jason and Eric Gill and P.J. and Brian Dalbo; 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss her terribly. Visitation will be held Friday 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12pm Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiating. Private interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Post Office Box 2247, Weirton, WV 26062 or Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.

  4. I was sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was always very kind to me and treated me as one of the family when I played at your house when we were growing up. (A picture of Joe and me from around 1983 is attached. Stumbled across it recently. Reminded me of visiting your house and all the good times we had — sled riding down the big hill, your father’s woodworking workshop, etc. So many good memories.)

  8. Steve, I’m so sorry for the loss of your dear mother. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I’m so glad that she was a part of my life as well.
