Catherine Zaleski
October 23, 1913 ~ October 19, 2007
Catherine Zaleski, 93, of Weirton died Friday October 19, 2007, at the Weirton Medical Center.
She was born on October 23, 1913, in Chester, WV, the daughter of the late John and Sophie (Bajek) Wojdyla. Catherine was also preceded in death by her husband Walter Zaleski on April 29, 1985; her brother, John Wojdyla and her sisters Anna Hawrot, Stella Paisley, and Mary Kostka.
Catherine was a homemaker. She also worked at the Stone and Thomas when it first opened in Weirton and the Children Shoppe. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, The Christian Mothers and the Altar and Rosary Society and a past member of the Saint Cecelia Choir of Sacred Heart of Mary Church.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Eileen Gandelman and her granddaughter Janice Gandelman both of Dearborn Heights , MI; a sister, Frances Zagula of Weirton, WV and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
