Cathy Jo Keister, a beloved wife, daughter, and homemaker, passed away peacefully at her home on June 5, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 31, 1957, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Theodore and Kathryn Kamarec Shorts.
Cathy Jo’s life was marked by love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for simple joys. She graduated from Weir High in 1975 and soon after, on September 30, 1977, she married the love of her life, Larry Keister. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with adventure, companionship, and unwavering devotion.
As a homemaker, Cathy Jo found immense joy in creating a warm and loving environment for her family. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her garden, cultivating beauty from the earth. She was also an avid explorer, finding solace in antique shops and delight in traveling across the country with Larry. From the majestic Smoky Mountains to the grandeur of Mount Rushmore and the tranquility of the Adirondacks, Cathy Jo cherished every moment spent discovering unfamiliar places and making memories with her beloved husband.
In addition to their travels, Cathy Jo and Larry enjoyed outdoor adventures together, whether riding bikes through scenic trails or exploring the countryside on four-wheelers. Their shared passion for life and each other was evident in every moment they spent together.
Beyond her earthly pursuits, Cathy Jo was a woman of faith, finding strength and comfort in her belief in God. Her unwavering spirituality guided her through life’s challenges and imbued her with a sense of peace and grace.
Cathy Jo Keister will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her son Jamie Keister, and brothers Theodore and John Shorts.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Larry Keister of Weirton, brothers in law, Randall (Joyce) Keister and Melvin (Dottie) Keister, her best friend Libby Stevens, and her precious dog Winnie.
Friends are invited to visit Cathy’s family on Saturday from 9 am until the time of the 1 pm service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Reverend Larry Barkley will officiate.
Cathy will be buried in Saint John Haven of Rest Cemetery, Colliers, WV.

Larry, my heart breaks for you my friend. Know your in my prayers. I will miss Cathy and my deep talks of which we had many. It was an honor and privilege to call her my friend. I will miss her. I’m so glad the Lord allowed me to see her not long ago.
