Charles Anthony Oliver

Surrounded by his loving family, Charles Anthony "Chuck" Oliver, 65, of Weirton, passed away from heart disease Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home. Born May 15, 1949 in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of Inez Berarducci Oliver of Weirton and the late Anthony Oliver.
Chuck was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Anna Danielle Shultz and his nephew, Mark Anthony Oliver.
With 38 years of service, Chuck retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was very active in the choir. He was a member of the Saint Paul's Holy Name, K of C 3734. Among his activities, Chuck was a member of the Ohio Valley Mopar Club, Steel Valley Bowling League, Weirton men's slow pitch softball league, Jeff- Tech men's baseball league and the American Postal Workers Union, and he and his wife also participated in Marriage Encounter.
Chuck is survived by his wife Cynthia Machesney Oliver of Weirton; daughters Carrie Shultz and her husband Louis Edwin Shultz of Joffre, PA and Casey Oliver of Weirton; a sister, Cecilia Wounaris and her husband Pete also of Weirton; and a grandson Caleb Louis Charles Shultz.
Visitation will be held Sunday 1- 4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where the Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Rev. Fr. Larry Dorsch and Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will concelebrate.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062, or to the Caleb Shultz Education Fund.

My wife and I will surely miss Chuck. We had many great conversations with him down at the post office. He always tried to make you feel welcome.
Rest in peace Mr. Oliver. You were such a Good Man! I’ll miss seeing you come have dinner at work now. I’ll never forget always seeing you as a Guest at Mario’s and Undo’s Restaurants have dinner. I always saw you in Church and at the Post Office too. How sad that you are gone now. I’ll miss seeing you everywhere all the time in town. I even remember when I first met you. I was a young kid at St. Paul’s and was in the Hosanna Play with you. I went way back with you. Everyone truly lost a good man and a great friend in their life now. God bless you Mr. Oliver. Our sympathy goes out to the family. Chuck was an absolutely amazing guy. I had the honor of him being in my entire life, and am so happy that he was. He was always there for anyone who needed it, to cheer you up and to give you a hug when you needed it. The world is loosing an amazing guy, but heaven is gaining an even more amazing angel. To the Oliver family our deepest sympathy. I have known Chuck for over 50 years but I have been out of Weirton for 37 years. When visiting ever four or five years I always stopped in to talk to Chuck. He will be missed as a husband, father and friend to everyone who knew him in Weirton. RIP
