Charles Franklin White, Jr., known affectionately to many as “Charlie,” passed away suddenly on November 3, 2024, at the age of 55.
Charlie, a loving husband, father, and brother, was born on May 1, 1969, in Weirton, WV, one of four children to the late Charles Franklin and Shirley Kirkpatrick White, Sr.
A graduate of Weir High School in the Class of 1987, Charlie carried a love for his roots and hometown throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing for bass and trout, and hunting deer. Many remember him for his passion for CB radio, where he was known by his handle “Crow Bar Charlie.”
Charlie met his beloved wife, Robin Glickman White, through their shared interest of Euchre, which they played online. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, companionship, and love for their family. In his free time, Charlie delighted in playing backgammon and Xbox and could often be found enjoying a good cigar.
A diehard Dallas Cowboys and Washington Capitals fan, Charlie had a heart for sports and loved cheering on his teams. His enthusiasm for current events, cooking shows, and, of course, Fox News kept him engaged and informed. He would be particularly thrilled to know his early vote for Donald Trump counted in the recent election, a fact that would undoubtedly bring a smile to his face in Heaven.
Charlie had a generous heart and a love for food, especially when it came to DiCarlo’s Pizza on visits home. He enjoyed singing, and his happy-go-lucky spirit brought joy to those around him. An avid music lover, he appreciated both rock and classic country, and his friends and family fondly remember his easygoing personality and love for life.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and cherished the fellowship he found attending New Beginnings Nazarene Church in New Market, MD.
Charlie will be remembered with love by his wife Robin; his sons, Brandon (Kaytlyn Dickinson) White and Robert (Kaelyn Diaz) White; his brothers, Michael and Wayne White; and his sister, Thelma Mills.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 3 PM until 5PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton.
Pastor James Rhodes will preside.
Interment will take place on Saturday at 12 Noon at the Comp’s Cemetery in Hyndman, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Appalachia Reach Out, 2570 Rockcastle Road, Inez, KY 41224, or online at appalachiareachout.com.
