christina myers
Christina (Christy) Jane Myers, 41, formerly of Weirton, passed suddenly on Feb 1st, 2016 at John Muir Hospital in Concord, California. Her death was a result of a pulmonary embolism from a recent surgery. Born March 8, 1974, Christy is the daughter of Judy (Waggoner) Myers and David Myers and the sister of Juliana (Julie) Myers Riley. A 1992 graduate of Weir Senior High School, Christy went on to graduate from West Liberty University in 1998 with dual degrees in Nursing and Psychology. She practiced nursing for over two decades and made a wonderful career of caring for patients suffering from mental health issues. During part of her career, Christy's adventurous spirit led her to work as a traveling nurse, from coast to coast, often independently driving cross country on numerous occasions and she subsequently built friendships all over the country. She finally settled in Antioch, California and enjoyed her work at an excellent healthcare facility for many years. Christy had a number of hobbies: volunteering with an animal rescue, traveling, music, reading, bowling, karaoke and photography. Whether from her travels or just a family trait, Christy had the ability to capture the beauty of life in a picture and had some of her photos published over the years. She could almost always be seen with a camera in hand, capturing moments whether with friends or during family gatherings. Her other love in life were her three dogs, Jackson, VooDoo and Baby. Christy doted on and provided them with an excellent life and she spread her love for animals through volunteering in California. If you met Christy, it would've only taken a minute to realize she loved life and above all, that she had the most generous heart and smile that could light up a room. She would never think twice about helping out a friend, neighbor or family member and there wasn't any limit to her generosity. She gave without limits because her heart was so gracious and kind. She was simply, the best daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, co-worker and friend you could be blessed to be around. Christy is survived by her mother Judy Myers, and Judy's boyfriend, Mike Volosin; her father, David Myers and her father's wife, Sue Ann Myers; her sister, Juliana (Myers) Riley (husband Adam) and her nephew, Bowen. In addition, she leaves behind loving aunts, uncles, cousins , co-workers and friends, too numerous to name, who are heartbroken over her sudden passing. Hold your loved ones close, laugh often, forgive always and tell them you love them, life is just too short. Visitation will be Sunday 1-5 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be Monday 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene 475 Colliers Way Weirton, WV. Rev Larry Barkley will preside. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton In lieu of flowers, please consider the following: donating to the Hancock County Animal Shelter as Christy adored her three dogs and would appreciate this kindness, perform an act of kindness in Christy's memory or to the American Institute of Cancer Research for all the family members who are battling or have battled cancer including Christy's mother Judy and David's wife Sue Ann.
