christine deluca-barker

Mrs. Christine M. DeLuca Barker, of Weirton, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She was 94 years old.

Born in Weirton on November 24, 1930, Christine was a beloved daughter of Costantine and Marie Boniti De Collo. She was a woman of boundless energy, unwavering kindness, and deep devotion to her faith, family, and community.

A lifelong member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Christine actively participated in the Christian Mothers, St. Joseph’s Choir and various parish activities, always giving of herself to others.

She dedicated over thirty years of service to the Tin Mill Credit Union, where she built lasting friendships and was known for her warm and welcoming nature.

Beyond her professional life, Christine had a deep love for dance and shared her passion with generations of children as the owner and instructor of Chris’s School of Dance. Her legacy lives on in the countless students she taught and inspired.

Christine was also a member of numerous social and cultural organizations, including the Funseekers, Four Seasons, Italian Sons and Daughters, the Calendar Girls Dance Group and the Weirton Christian Center. Her zest for life and love of companionship made her a cherished friend to many.

A talented cook, Christine found joy in preparing meals for her loved ones, especially during the holidays. Christmas and the Fourth of July were made even more special by the warmth and delicious dishes she lovingly prepared.

In 1951, Christine was involved in the tragic Weirton Bus accident, enduring a four-month hospital stay. Despite this hardship, she faced life with an indomitable spirit, always smiling, always kind.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Deluca, brother Robert Valenti, nephews Bobby Valenti and Daniel Fijewski, and stepdaughter, Susan Donahoe.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of twenty-four years Boyd Barker, sister Judy (Max) Fijewski, sister-in-law Carol Valenti, nieces Debbie (Charlie) Garrison, Marcie (Bill) Bostic, nephew Brian (Kristin) Fijewski, stepchildren Boyd (Gina) Barker, Vicki (Jack) Gallo, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends can visit Christine’s family on Sunday, February 9, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV., 26062, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 229 California Ave., Weirton, WV., 26062.

Rev. Fr. Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr., will preside.

Entombment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Christine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her unwavering positivity and generosity will never be forgotten, and while her presence is irreplaceable, Heaven has surely gained a beautiful angel.
