Clifford Wayne Haspel, Sr., of Weirton, WV, passed away at Weirton Medical Center on Thursday, July 28, 2022. He was 89 years old. He was born on November 6, 1932, in St. Clairsville, OH, to William and Martha Ritchie Haspel. Clifford graduated from Frances Mine High School and was drafted by the United States Army where he served his country with pride, he later married Martha L. “Marty’ Hulick, being blessed with three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Clifford worked as a millwright retiring with over forty years of service, working many double and triple shifts, the love of his life, his wife Marty took care of the home, and their special needs son Clifford, Jr., all while being an advocate for the handicapped. He spent many days at Ponderosa Golf Course, walking the round of eighteen holes up until he was 83 years old, Marty did not agree with his walking so much, so he was forced to rent a cart, or she would make him stop golfing. During the summertime, you would find Clifford coaching his son Jimmy’s little league baseball team. He was an excellent coach, teaching the kids to bat and developing his son into a tremendous hitter. In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years Martha, son James Haspel, granddaughter Nicole Coleman, sister Lucy Haspel, and brothers John, Bill, Ernie, Ray, and Kenny Haspel. Remembering Clifford with love is his son Clifford Haspel, Jr., of Weirton, Lori (Douglas) Van Kirk of Bloomingdale, OH., grandchildren Jacob (Danielle) Haspel, Joshua Haspel, Shea and Brycen Van Kirk, and a great-grandchild Aiden Coleman. Clifford’s request for cremation was honored, no services are planned at this time. Clifford will be buried next to his wife Martha at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Florence, PA.
